The night of the spring equinox in 2013, ignorant of the fact the equinox was happening, I dreamt of Ostara in all her radiant glory. I'm not much one for gods and goddess and religion, but the coincidence was totally uncanny. Since dreaming of her, I've felt an intense connexion to Ostara and the image or idea of that being has had a profoundly positive impact on my life.

Beset by illness and betrayal,
the first blossoms of spring burst forth,
old life for new, sickness for health,
the sun returns yet darkness grows.

Deceit taints my tongue
as I drink of bitter sorrows,
lies told and truths half hidden,
friendships withering away.

Shining she enters my dreams,
kisses my forehead with motherly love,
her blessing dissipate
as I awake, forlorn.

Ostara, Mother of Light,
Bringer of Life and of Plenty,
Rabbit Maiden, Egg Bearer,

Reality again takes hold,
strangling tendrils of unwanted truths,

dreamed potential given flesh,

of limitless becoming.
